Job Description
The Heavy Haulage Logistics Manager (HHLM) will oversee the management of the Heavy Haulage fleet that Aardvark Haulplant, and Duchy Plant Hire, has. One of the key elements of the role is to develop relationships with existing customers, and be responsible for finding new customers, too, with a view to expanding the Heavy Haulage fleet. As such, the HHLM will need to deliver high-level verbal, and written, communications with both customers and their colleagues. They are expected to plan, and manage, every aspect of the haulage cycle, from order to service delivery, which includes work/load planning, logistics, transport organisation, and related customer services. The HHLM will need to develop, and maintain, robust relationships with customers, the “in-house” Transport Managers (TM), and Haulage Fleet drivers. Together with the TM’s, the HHLM will assist in recruiting, orienting, and train, employees and provide periodic performance evaluations. Other duties include preparing working schedules and enforcing health and safety rules. Logistics Managers may also perform other functions as determined by upper management. The HHLM will need the flexibility to work from varying depots, within the Groups operating areas, albeit they will mainly be based at our Nanpean location. You will need excellent IT skills as varying software is used to manage its operations. For the purpose of clarification, the TM’s are responsible for compliance matters related to the fleet. However, you may be asked to undertake tasks by the TM’s, subject to relevant training.
