Some of your responsibilities will include:
1. Develop, lead and manage the implementation of the Regions Energy Strategy to achieve a reduction in energy usage, lowering costs and CO2 in accordance with NR targets.
2. Carry out engineering risk assessment of allocated proposals from clarification of remit (start of stage 2) to the completion of single option feasibility work and handover into detailed design (end of stage 4).
3. Provide specialist advice to teams developing signalling layouts across all functions within Infrastructure investment and Asset management.
4. Manage the minor scheme plan sign-off process for allocated routes.
5. Monitor for consistency in the application of risk ID and evaluation methods (e.g. HAZOP, QRA, LRM, and the GK/RT/14200 suite), as suitable to evaluate and compare options.
6. Review risk analysis of schemes in development and provide functional direction to the teams.
7. Provide specialist advice resource so that all detailed engineering and development activities, result in schemes that are affordable, meet programme requirements in a safe & environmentally responsible manner and are delivered to time, cost and quality.
8. Maintain an interface with Route and National Signal Engineers within the Engineering Function
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:
- Working towards an engineering degree or equivalent industry-recognised training qualification.
- IRSE Licence holder Signalling Principles Designer or Signalling Schemes Designer, Signalling Design Verifier, Design Manager (S) or working towards.
- A demonstrable aptitude for option development.
- Strong evaluation and decision-making skills.
- A working knowledge of rail engineering; relevant successful experience working in the signalling discipline and an adequate understanding of all other related disciplines.
- An ability to work and communicate effectively in a team context.
- An appreciation of all the life cycle stages of rail infrastructure.
- Formal qualifications in risk identification and assessment.
We would also like but it isnt crucial to have/to be:
- Foundation degree in engineering
- Membership of a relevant engineering professional institution.
- Experience in design, installation and maintenance.
