RECEPTIONIST / ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
JOB DESCRIPTION
REQUIRED FOR SEPTEMBER 2023
37 hours per week Monday-Friday with 30 minutes for a lunchbreak.
(Full or Part time hours can be negotiable)
38 weeks per year (term time)
Salary band - Grade 2 Point 3.
Currently £20,812 per annum, which equates to £17,219 pro rata.
The post holder will be fully involved in the day to day activities of this busy school office where teamwork and flexibility are essential.
- Sound ICT skills – familiar with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and ideally Excel too.
- Familiar with SIMS or a keen willingness to learn the system.
- As the first point of contact for telephone enquiries and visitors to the school the post holder will need excellent interpersonal skills. We wish to appoint someone with a cheerful, positive and helpful attitude.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, pupils, parents and visitors.
- Good organisational skills are a must with the ability to prioritise workload and remain calm in a busy environment. The position is based in the main school office and therefore has frequent interruptions.
- Willing to undertake 3 day First Aid training in order to help provide initial first aid support for pupils who are unwell or are injured during the school day.
- Arrange refreshments for visitors, as necessary.
- Distribute incoming post and frank outgoing post ready for collection.
- Logging incident report forms.
- General typing / admin and office support.
- Produce the school’s half termly newsletter using Publisher.
- Provide admin support for the Y10 Work Experience programme.
- Assist with the issuing of invoices and chase outstanding payments for music fees.
- Assist with second hand uniform sales.
The above gives an idea of some of the main duties and responsibilities but these may be varied to meet the changing demands of the school at the discretion of the Headteachers.
