Job Description

Travel health is by definition an evolving and topical field. Situations can change very quickly and as a national body organisation, the National Travel Health Network and Centre (NaTHNaC) needs to be able to provide an accurate response in a timely fashion. We are looking for a dynamic Analyst who can work as part of a small, supportive, dedicated multi-disciplinary team and is passionate about providing up to date information and advice for travellers and health professionals.
Staying up to date with current guidelines/ evidence-based research is crucial to the service we provide to our users. The wide variety of topics covered by travel health make it a fascinating area to work in. We need an Analyst who has some experience in epidemiology and can be responsible for meeting the information analysis needs of the department. The role includes the development and provision of relevant and accurate information and presentation tools to support the corporate reporting and information functions of NaTHNaC as a national reference centre for travel health. This post will also provide the right candidate the chance to build on online resource and content management and training will be provided.
This is a great opportunity to be part of an organisation respected nationally and internationally and we offer all staff the incentive of hybrid working to support work-life balance.

The job purpose will involve providing analytical expertise to support NaTHNaC, streamlining the data processes and outputs, and ensuring timely delivery of information projects that reflect NaTHNaC’s role within the wider healthcare community.

The Analyst in travel health will work closely with the Senior Information Analyst under minimal supervision to provide their services to NaTHNaC as directed by the Director. Other key working relations include the Online Communications and Information Officer, other NaTHNaC staff and external personnel who are involved with obtaining this information.

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK, serving a large and diverse population. We provide academically led acute and specialist services, to people from the local area, from throughout the United Kingdom and overseas. Our vision is to deliver top-quality patient care, excellent education, and world-class research.

We provide first-class acute and specialist services across eight sites:

We are dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of many complex illnesses. UCLH specialises in women’s health and the treatment of cancer, infection, neurological, gastrointestinal and oral disease. It has world class support services including critical care, imaging, nuclear medicine and pathology.

At UCLH, we have a real ‘One Team’ ethos, and our values – safety, kindness, teamwork and improving, are central to the way we work. This is supported by our staff, who voted us as the #1 NHS Acute Trust to work for in the whole of England.

NaTHNaC was set up by the Department of Health in 2002 with the broad aim of Protecting the Health of British Travellers. We seek to improve the quality of travel health advice given by GP practices, travel clinics, pharmacies and other healthcare providers, and provide up-to-date and reliable information for the international traveller, travel industry and national government.

We are commissioned by UK Health Security Agency and hosted by University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH); we also work in partnership with our other network founders Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD). The network partners and Department of Health provide strategic guidance to NaTHNaC through representation on a Technical Advisory Group which meets quarterly.

We are interested in your career development wherever that path may take you. The post holder will have the opportunity to attend study days within specialist areas and funding is available for continuing professional development.

We have a focus on staff wellbeing and organise multiple programmes to ensure our staff are supported and enjoy their time at work.
