Background

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to join the Information Strategy and Governance Team (IS&G) in the Parliamentary Archives.

The successful candidate will support the Head of Information Strategy and Governance in managing the secretariat for the Information and Digital Board (IDB). They will have experience of supporting projects, using this experience to deliver current priorities to Parliament.

Excellent administrative skills are necessary to support the secretariat functions of the IDB and to deliver governance improvements, as well as the ability to produce dynamic communications, including communication campaigns.

The IDB provides strategic leadership for information, data and digital matters in the UK Parliament.

The IS&G Team is responsible for the management of the secretariat function to the IDB, oversight of the associated information, data and digital strategies, and delivers projects working closely with other partner teams.
Our team of two currently sits within the bicameral Parliamentary Archives office, based within the House of Lords but is a shared service of both Houses of Parliament and jointly funded.

Main objective

The postholder will support the secretariat function for the IDB and provide governance support and project and programme assistance to the Head of Information Strategy & Governance. They will deliver priority objectives for Parliament including supporting the development of future strategies.
Additionally, the post-holder will draft communications relating to the IDB and associated information, data and digital strategies, to raise awareness and contribute to enhancing Parliament’s information, data and digital culture.

Competencies:

Essential

  • Organisational Skills - Strong organisational skills, with experience of managing multiple tasks concurrently and the ability to work autonomously, using initiative and managing own time, while keeping to schedules and meeting deadlines.
  • Collaboration and relationship-building – Ability to form and maintain effective relationships, working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders at all levels across Parliament to achieve common goals. Commitment to a work environment of mutual trust and respect, where diversity and inclusion is valued.
  • Communication and engagement – Strong written and verbal communication and engagement skills, ability to prepare communications in a way that is understandable and meaningful to a range of users. Clearly and concisely drafting minutes, papers or reports to a high standard.
  • Professionalism and expertise - Sound professional judgement, and ability to deal confidently and confidentially with senior colleagues.
  • Digital Skills - Excellent all-round digital skills and the ability to grasp technological concepts rapidly.
  • Project Support - Experience supporting projects and/or programmes of work.
