Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work with students and staff, as they develop ideas and plans for projects and develop their artistic skills. You will provide practical guidance and advice on how best to approach and produce 3D practical artwork, including techniques, use of equipment such as kilns, and safety considerations. This will include running group workshops, as well as providing individual support and guidance.

The successful candidate will have a background in practical art work, and experience working in education. As part of the role, you will work closely with School staff and technical colleagues to plan projects, support teaching and research activities, and assess the resources required to achieve objectives, also supporting other activities where there is crossover of skills. You will also work closely with students to help them achieve their learning objectives.

Additional skills in associated areas, 2D and multimedia art would be advantageous.

You will also be expected to develop positive and collaborative working relationships with colleagues in all areas of the University and to conduct yourself as a professional at all times. You will share your skills with other members of technical staff and contribute, for instance, towards our aims of ensuring a good level of practical skill across the whole team.

You will have:

  • A knowledge of the risks associated with activities relevant to the role.
  • Experience of providing excellent customer service
  • A passion for working with young artists to support them in bringing their ideas to life
